Dave Spalding, SelectAccount’s President and Chief Executive Officer, brings a combination of banking and health care experience to his role. He began his career with more than 12 years in corporate finance and banking, the majority being spent at Bank of America. Since 2002, he has worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, primarily in the SelectAccount leadership team. Dave is active in healthcare industry leadership, serving on the executive board of the American Bankers Association HSA Council and directorships for a number of health care corporations, including a third party administrator and an acute care hospital. In the local community, he serves as a voluntary director and vice chair of the board of directors for Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (“CLUES”), a nonprofit social services organization dedicated to serving the unmet needs of under-served Minnesotans. In 1990, he earned an MBA in international finance from Thunderbird in Glendale, Arizona.
Carol Kraft, our Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, is accountable for managing our operations and technology. As a former Vice President of IT Infrastructure and Service for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, she brings over three decades of valuable health plan experience to our organization. An expert in the fundamentals of financial services delivery - people, process and technology - Carol has overseen multi-million dollar investments in operations and deployments of technology in both the spending account and health plan business. Carol’s philosophy is every employee is linked to service. "If you are not directly serving customers, you are supporting someone who does.” In the community, Carol is very active in the Women’s Health Leadership Trust, an organization committed to empowering and supporting women executives. She is currently President-Elect of the Trust and will serve a one year executive term in 2011.
Nikki Stretar, SelectAccount’s Vice President of Technology, is considered to be one of the company’s founders. Nikki has served in a number of leadership roles at the company since joining us in 1994. Today she is charged with leading the management of and investment in our proprietary medical banking technology assets. With almost 20 years in the spending account business, she is one of the most experienced leaders in the consumer-directed health care space and is known for her deep knowledge of our products and the unique ability to deploy technology solutions in support of innovation. Nikki has a diverse educational background – she obtained her bachelor’s degree from Hamline University, attained the ASA designation from the Society of Actuaries, is an FLMI with LOMA, and was a member of the inaugural class to receive the CFCI certification from ECFC.
Reed Erickson, SelectAccount’s Vice President of Compliance and Risk Management, is responsible for assuring our products and business practices adhere to the letter and spirit of our industry regulations as well as meeting our customers’ needs. Reed’s industry expertise and knowledge is widely recognized by both employer customers and his industry peers. He is active with ECFC, an industry advocacy organization for tax advantaged benefit programs and SIGIS, which coordinates medical debit card practices. Prior to his eight years in health care, Reed spent 20+ years in the transportation industry in customer service, finance, labor relations, operations, information technology and general management. Reed holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in business accounting from the University of Minnesota.
As our Vice President of Sales and Strategic Partnerships, Dawn Hayes is accountable for managing our key business relationships with health plans and employers as well as the advisor and broker community. Dawn is deeply familiar with the needs of our partners, having successfully led many large consumer-directed implementations in the past few years. Her dedication and expertise on a large-scale wellness account implementation was recognized by a client in the form of a Vendor of the Year award. Prior to her decade in the health care industry, Dawn had extensive career experience in both a large corporate environment and running a small, entrepreneurial business. She is a graduate of Siena College in New York with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Karen Jacobson, SelectAccount’s Customer Solutions Director, is accountable for managing our customer service operations for all customer segments including members, employers, advisors and brokers. Prior to joining SelectAccount in 2006, Karen spent 20 years working at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, including 10 years leading a national account service team. She provides SelectAccount with deep knowledge of health plan customer service needs and the high touch customer service “DNA” the Minnesota Blue Plan is famous for. Upon entering the consumer-directed business, Karen immediately recognized the knowledge gap impacting all key stakeholders and she has energetically driven our service philosophy towards a “SelectAccount Education Center” concept. Under Karen's leadership our servicing center consistently generates high customer satisfaction ratings. She earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
