Your privacy is important to us

SelectAccount is committed to providing you with best in class products and services. As part of obtaining our products and services, we understand that you provide SelectAccount with personal, private information and we take this responsibility seriously. This privacy policy is provided so that you will be aware of the measures we take to protect the privacy of your nonpublic personal information. It also describes information we collect and how we use this information to conduct our business. You agree that we may collect, use and share information as described in this privacy policy, subject to your right to limit information sharing as described below. Additionally, our online and offline business practices are in compliance with the privacy requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Gramm Leach Bliley (GLB) Act.

What types of data do we collect?
SelectAccount needs accurate data about you so we can manage your account and give you the best possible customer service. We also need accurate data for legal and regulatory requirements. The types of data we collect vary by the products, services and benefits you choose. It can include:

  • Data you provided on applications or other forms, such as your name, address, employment information, date of birth and social security number.
  • Data about your transactions with us, such as your personal spending account information, your account balance, fees, payments, withdrawals, deposits and payment history. This category includes information about your visits with health care providers related to your claims.
  • Data from consumer reporting agencies about your credit history.
  • Data from public sources such as telephone directories and government records.
How do we protect your personal information?

When do we share information inside our company?
A main reason we share data with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and its subsidiaries and affiliates is so they can provide the financial and health plan services and products that you request. Doing so also enables these businesses to:
  • Perform services for us such as payment processing, billing and technical support;
  • Perform marketing services;
  • Research our customer's needs in order to improve our products and services;
  • Tell you about new products or services that may be of interest to you.
When do we share information outside our family of companies?
We do not share customer information outside of our company, except as permitted by law. As one example, we work with other companies to process your personal spending claims. Other examples include:
  • Our business partners, so they can provide the financial and health plan products and services you requested;
  • Companies that provide billing and technical support;
  • Non-financial companies, such as medical providers and companies that perform marketing services on our behalf.
In addition, we must share data about you any time fraud is suspected or to comply with an inquiry from a government agency or regulator.
If you no longer have products or services with SelectAccount, we will not share your data with other firms, except as permitted by law. We may share data about you within our family of companies.

What are your privacy rights online?
Protecting your personal data online is also critical. Here are some other things you should know about your online privacy rights:

  • User Registration. You do not need to enter any personal information when you browse this Web site. Some sections of this Web site however, are only available to registered users. When you want to check your account status or claims information, for example, we may ask you for personal information such as your name, address, e-mail address, username and password. We do this to make sure no one else can access your personal data.

  • Tell us not to send you information about new products and services by mail, telephone or e-mail. We may still send you communications about your existing accounts.
  • Tell us not to share within our family of companies your data from applications, credit eligibility, and information from sources used to verify information you provide to us. We may still share other information, such as your name, address, transaction information, balance and experiences with us, as needed by those companies.
Residents of some states (including California and Vermont) may have additional privacy rights. SelectAccount adheres to all applicable state laws.
If you do not wish to exercise your right to opt-out of information sharing, no action is required. If you do wish to exercise your right to opt-out and limit our ability to keep you informed of beneficial products and services, please call us at 1-800-859-2144 during regular business hours.

We reserve the right to change this policy at any time. We will send you our updated Privacy Policy on an annual basis. Your choice will apply to all accounts under your name. We will process your request in a timely manner as soon as we receive it.
