Your employer may also offer you a program which allows you the opportunity to save money by using pretax salary dollars to pay for work-related transportation expenses, such as transit passes, vanpool commuting and qualified parking. By paying for these expenses with pretax dollars, you not only decrease the amount of taxes you pay, but you also increase your take-home pay for the year. This program is called the SelectAccount Transportation Expense Reimbursement Program.
"Qualified parking" is any parking provided to an employee on or near the business premises of the employer or on or near a location from which the employee commutes to work by transportation in a commuter highway vehicle. Qualified parking does not include any parking on or near property used by the employee for residential purposes.
The term "transit pass" means any employer-sponsored pass, token, farecard, voucher or similar item that entitles you to transportation (or transportation at a reduced price) if such transportation is either:
